The river is our lifeline. In real terms, we’ve been gifted flowing water which allows us to hydrate, feed crops, and transport goods and ourselves. For some of us, it is where we find solace, excitement, friendship and therapy. For me rivers also bring income, via my work as a paddle shop manager and instructor.
I am grateful for the lessons I’ve learned from the river…joy, hardship and challenge. Being comfortable in discomfort. Thinking and behaving more flexibly. Shitting in the woods! (a skill surprisingly few people have outside my paddling/outdoor rec-Bendlandia bubble).
The most fun I’ve probably ever had.
Love.
Friendships I cherish as family!
The community that river towns seem to attract.
Beauty.
Natural cleansing of our earth and ecosystems.
Biggest and most gratitude for our waterways…rivers, oceans and lakes…the life-blood of our Earth.
